Rev. Betsy Swetenburg joined Northridge Presbyterian in 2020. Betsy came most recently from Atlanta, Georgia, where she attended seminary and served as an Associate Pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church – but her hometown is Davidson, North Carolina, where she grew up and attended college. At Davidson College, Betsy majored in English. From there, she attended Columbia Theological Seminary and earned a Master of Divinity. In college and seminary, Betsy’s world expanded thanks to language, and her conviction that language shapes our world in profound ways only grows deeper with time.

Betsy believes our best hope for living out the Gospel is through loving each other and seeking to draw that circle of love ever wider. She says she was drawn to Northridge in part after meeting Northridge members who know how to love well – loving each other, loving their neighbors, and loving the world.

Betsy believes that for our faith to be alive in the world, we can’t sit still. She strives to embody the mandate in the Northridge charge to “go,” encountering God’s world with an open heart and an open mind.
