ADVENT 2025

As we embrace Living the Charge in our life together this year, we are reflecting on how we embody the words we speak at the end of worship every week. This Advent season, we’re exploring what it means to live In the Meantime while we Wait, Watch, Pray and Prepare for the birth of Jesus.

Countdown to Christmas — November 30 at 4:00-5:30 p.m.

Join us for a joyful intergenerational evening as we start the official countdown to Christmas! Enjoy a popcorn bar, hot cocoa, cookie decorating, ornament making, and Advent Wreath Making. Then gather on the east lawn (outside Share Café) to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas under the evening sky. *In case of inclement weather, we will move inside to Quillin Hall.

Reverse Advent Calendar — December 1-24

This year we are inviting you to use a different kind of Advent calendar. Instead of receiving a gift each day of Advent, we ask that you consider getting a gift each day for a neighbor in need. December 1 through December 13, gifts will go to Mount Auburn for their student holiday bags. December 14 through December 24, gifts will go to White Rock Center of Hope. Click here to download the Reverse Advent Calendar.

Gifts for Good: A Legacy Two Pencils Program

Take part in this longtime Northridge tradition by making a monetary donation as a Christmas gift to friends or family! These gifts support our mission partners, so please indicate which partner you’d like to benefit. Make a payment by cash or check in the narthex on Sundays, or online by clicking here.

Adult Christmas Party — December 5 at 6:30 p.m.

Celebrate the season with other Northridge adults at Ken and Betsey Slack’s home. More information can be found in the church newsletter or by calling the church office.

Women’s Advent Service –  December 9 at 7:00 p.m.

The annual Women’s Advent Worship Service is a meaningful tradition at Northridge, and we warmly invite you to join us for this year’s gathering on Tuesday, December 9, at 7:00 p.m. All women are invited to join us for a special evening of worship as we welcome the Rev. Katie Cummings, Associate Executive Presbyter of Grace Presbytery, as our Guest Preacher. After the service, stay for a time of connection and refreshments as we observe the Advent season together in community.

Outdoor Lessons & Carols Service — December 14 at 9:00 a.m.

At outdoor worship, we will participate in a service of lessons and carols as we prepare our hearts and minds for the coming of Christ. Using the “O Antiphons of Advent,” we’ll hear scripture read and sung invoking Jesus Christ by seven different titles: Wisdom, Adonai, Root of Jesse, Key of David, Dayspring, King of the Nations, and Emmanuel.

The Village Christmas Party — December 15

Calling all parents and young children: Join us for the Village Christmas Party as we take a family friendly trolley ride through Highland Park to see the Christmas lights!

Celebrating Betsy’s Ministry — December 21 at 10:00 a.m.

Traditional Lessons & Carols Service — December 21 at 11:00 a.m.

In worship, we will take part in this classic, beloved tradition as we prepare our hearts and minds for the coming of Christ. Our Chancel Choir will lead our singing and offer a number of anthems to complement the scripture readings. This is a special annual service that you won’t want to miss!
