Who We Are

Active Faith. Endless Hope. Radical Hospitality.

At Northridge, we live with “Can-Do Spirit.” We are doers who are willing to roll up our sleeves and get the work done. No task is too small or too big. We approach all things with a willingness to help, and as plans change, we stay flexible and adapt to the circumstances.

We embrace hope. Instead of letting fear hold us back, we stay positive when approaching new ideas not only for our team and community but for the church universal. We respond to new possibilities first by imagining what could work rather than focusing on potential negative outcomes.

We don’t settle. Maintenance is never the goal—meaning that we strive for continual improvement. Even after our biggest successes, we ask, “How can we make this better?”

We are willing to entertain the impossible. We stay open to new ideas when considering the ways that people engage with each other and their faith. We realize that new solutions may lie in the future that we haven’t even considered yet. But we also recognize that by keeping our minds open, we are one step closer to finding them. We ask the question, “Why not?” when pursuing new ideas.

We are Reformed Christians, spiritual seekers, and ex-vangelicals. Some of us are lifelong Presbyterians and many others have come to Northridge from a variety of Protestant, Catholic and non-denominational churches.

We are comfortable with doubts and willing to ask the hard questions. We are open-minded and willing to go deeper in faith. We are open to loving others whole-heartedly, and we value inter-generational relationships.

We are generous, committed, and intentional.

The Charge

At the close of every worship service at Northridge, we send one another out with the same words. We call it the Charge, and it is more than a benediction. It is our commitment to one another and to the world.

"Go out into God's world in peace; have courage; hold on to what is good; return to no one evil for evil; strengthen the faint-hearted; support the weak; help the suffering; honor all persons; love and serve the Lord, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit."

We repeat it because we need the reminder. Following Jesus is not something that happens inside these walls and then pauses until next Sunday. It is a posture we carry into our neighborhoods, our workplaces, and our relationships. Everything we do at Northridge is an attempt to live up to that charge together.

Rooted in Grace

We are a community for people who carry questions alongside their convictions, who have felt burned by religion but haven’t given up on God, and who are looking for a church that meets them exactly where they are. Whether you identify as a lifelong Reformed Christian, a spiritual seeker, or someone who has walked away from church and isn’t sure why you’re back, you are welcome here. There is no need to check your mess at the door.

You Belong Here

Northridge is not a church where you need to have it together before you walk through the door. We mean that genuinely. Whatever your history with faith or with religion, there is a place for you here. We are a village, and we take that calling to heart. You will not be anonymous here.

Inclusion at Northridge

Northridge Presbyterian Church is an inclusive congregation where all people are welcomed, valued, and encouraged to participate fully in the life and ministry of the church, regardless of race, ethnicity, age, ability, geographic location, theological conviction, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
